It is a good project and a job well done. But, it is questionable whether this is a good book or documentation of the project. I don't think so. There are more critical essays than I had expected, which is great. But, the project itself should be documented better. Drawing qualities and photographs are a bit disappointing.

Biblical

Seven is a captivating book that brings you right into the life of Miriam of Magdala and submerges you into her culture as a Jewish woman living in Yeshua's (Jesus') day. The author draws you in and captivates you by creating a setting that makes you feel as if you are walking through the Holy Land in Miriam's shoes. She exposes the lies that are common to all and how Jesus can set you free from the bondage that so easily entangles us. I would highly recommend this book to all of my friends and family!

Biblical grace

Tristan Hodges has written an historical novel that resonates just as strongly today. I recognized myself in so many aspects of Miriam, and also how the grace of Jesus changed her heart, just as He has changed mine. Tristan also captures the imagination with the beautiful descriptions of the land, customs and rituals. All those Bible stories we think we know become more dear in the historical context. I highly recommend "Seven" to every woman-and to every man who loves a woman.

Lessons taught through compelling novel.

It was a pleasure to read a biblically based story as I was gently reminded of the importance of examining my personal life so I can live my life more fully in a manor that honors Jesus and all the good He represents. The author has done a masterful job of helping the reader understand the landscape, traditions and daily life during Jesus' time. It flows easily from chapter to chapter, event to event. The research required for this successful work is impressive.

Cornel Amariei

Cornel Amariei is a Romanian inventor and entrepreneur in the fields of Robotics and 3D printing. He has been working with the Arduino platform since its early days in 2007. His past experience involves large cargo gamma ray scanning robotics, ATM security systems, and blind assisting devices. In his spare time, he is a performing musician playing multiple instruments―predominately the guitar. He is also a swimmer, water polo player, and photographer. Over the years, he has built hundreds of Arduino projects, ranging from flying Quadcopters to levitating magnets and underwater robots. Currently, he splits his time between doing his undergraduate studies in electric engineering and computer science at Jacobs University in Bremen, Germany, and his start-ups and research and development job.

Really well written book

Starts off with the basics (LED`s, buttons, simple sensors) and then goes into advanced topics, which are very useful, but not hard to follow. Every wondered how to do noise reduction on a measurement, Localization through GPS or using brushless motors? As well practical things like using SD Cards for saving files and interrupts for handling external events.
I already had some experience with Arduino and read a couple of introduction books.
This one is so far the best for me. Providing all the basics the others offer as well and then showing some immensely useful things to build really cool applications.

This is a well prepared cook book for Arduino enthusiasts. Almost every basic and fundamental hardware you can interface with your Arduino is covered here. If you're having problems with your project, this can be a good reference.

Pros :
- Content is well prepared and organized.
- Coverage is satisfactory
- Schemas and diagrams are relevant and easy to understand
- Lots of links to references if you still need more info on some problem

Cons :
- Mostly hardware recipes (no IoT integration or similar projects)
- No Bluetooth/Bluetooth LE coverage (no iBeacons stuff which is a hot topic these days)
- Example code is not on Github, though you can download it from publishers portal
- Lots of links to reference sites within the content. While this is good (for electronic versions) it may be bothersome for people who bought the printed version.

many of the unnecessary electronics details are omitted

The book contains all the information you need to start playing with your Arduino kit. In Chapter 1 it starts with information regarding the Arduino IDE and it contains (among other things) information on how to install it on a Mac OS X, Windows, or Linux machine. Personally I think however that the reader may want to start reading the Appendix first (unless you already have enough electronics background). In the Appendix one can find information regarding schematics, Ohm's Law, Resistor configurations, LEDs, breadboards, etc.

In my opinion the book seems to be written with a focus on the programming rather than electronics side. As such, many of the unnecessary electronics details are omitted, and you get just enough electronics-related information to make your Arduino projects run smoothly. There is however a lot of focus on the software concepts and as such the code is written very clearly and it’s pretty easy to follow.

Some great topics that are included in this book are: button debouncing, button multiplexing, detecting motion, noise reduction (using mean and median filter), measuring distance, 1000 buttons to 1 pin, motor control, shift registers , and very many others. These are great-to-master topics that are useful for many embedded projects not only for Arduinos.

One of the great features of the book is that for each project one can find a schematic as well as a realistic breadboard implementation. Throughout the book one will learn how to use buttons, toggle switches, LEDs, potentiometers, temperature sensors, etc.

Each project starts with the complete code and then it contains a code breakdown, where each part of the code is explained with more details. I wish the internal references to previous sections would also contain page numbers (for a quicker retrieve).

Overall I think this is a pretty good introductory Arduino book which is very easy to follow, and it’s very clear to read. If you are quite advanced in Arduino project then you may want to skip this book, although given the price of it you may want to use it as a quick reference.

Was like falling off a beautiful cliff...

First of all, I am a die-hard Dekker fan. I read through this book in two days, the whole way thinking that this is the Dekker I have been waiting for since the Circle Series (I HIGHLY recommend that, by the way!). I was in tears almost the whole way through.

Then...

I got to the second section of the book and everything went downhill from there. Now, I am a Christian, and I fully appreciate spiritual parallels in literature....in moderation. This was just too much, and too repetitive. I began to feel like I was reading the same thing over and over again. The stories of Julian and many other wonderful characters were just cut off. I was left wanting so much more. The story just held me in its merciless grasp, and then vanished! Stephen was underdeveloped, unrealistic, and lacking in emotion. I wish we could just throw away the whole second section and rewrite the story from there. I love Ted Dekker as a novelist. The Circle Series is my absolute favorite book series of all time, and I cannot fully express my deep disappointment in the second part/ending of Outlaw.

The Book I've Been Waiting on Dekker to Write

A dream. That's what sent Julie Carter to Indonesia. She wasn't exactly sure what she'd find or where exactly she'd go, but on the basis of that dream she packed only the essentials for her and her two-year-old Stephen, and headed out for one of the few civilized areas of New Guinea. But the dream would soon become a nightmare.

A freak storm. That's what wrecked the ship and left Julie Carter the sole survivor, captured by the Tulim people. Her mourning for Stephen is tempered only by her own need to survive. Thrown into an alien world where she is considered less than human, Julie must adapt to survive--learning the customs and seeking the favor of her captors. Her value to the Tulim rests solely in her ability to bear a son fathered by one of the warring princes.

A twist. Stephen is discovered alive and now everything Julie has accepted about her new life is thrown into a quandary. His survival gives her both hope and dread: hope because he is alive, dread because his life is bound to cause war and death.

Outlaw is the book I've been waiting on Dekker to write. It's not that his previous books over the past couple years haven't been good (they have), but that I wanted to see Ted write something that he hadn't written before, with a unique setting and a compelling storyline and a powerful message. Outlaw accomplishes all of that. Readers will be talking about this one and discussing it weeks after they close the final page.

Ripped from the culture of Dekker's childhood, Outlaw is a unique story set deep in the jungles of Indonesia, where the rules of modern culture do not apply. It's the survival story of a woman facing impossible odds in that alien culture. But along the way, she finds that the "savages" aren't really savage, just different, yet also discovers that the human quest for power runs strong through all cultures.

Dekker's characters come to life in this story...from Julie, the main character, on down to Kirutu and Wilam, two of the Tulim princes vying for power. The storyline itself keeps the pages turning as, along with Julie, readers learn more about this life in the jungle. And there are enough twists to give readers guessing. But what I think people will be talking about the most is the Nameless One and the message that comes from his mouth. Sound enigmatic enough? Good.

But the most exciting part of this story is where it's going.

A piece of art

There are few authors as fearless as Dekker. Sometimes it felt like he was opening up his chest cavity to reveal his heart. Missionary work is sometimes romanticized, but this showed an incredible sense of scope as it came to the horrors that some have to endure. It was thought provoking and life changing.
I felt like Dekker took me by the hand and showed me around his childhood home. In the words of Hemingway, "All good books are alike in that they are truer than if they had really happened and after you are finished reading one you will feel that all that happened to you and afterwards it all belongs to you: the good and the bad, the ecstasy, the remorse and sorrow, the people and the places and how the weather was. If you can get so that you can give that to people, then you are a writer."
Dekker is truly a writer.
